FAQs

El CatoQ: What do you do during a visit?

I provide fresh water, feeding, playtime, outdoor time (if applicable), and plenty of love and attention for your pet. I will also turn lights off/on, open or close drapery, collect the mail, clean litter box and take the trash/recycling out, etc.

Q. Are you only available for vacation time?

I happily provide services such as walking your dog or checking on an old or ill pet while you're at work or taking your pets to grooming and veterinary appointments. If you happen to have to work late that day, for example, I could simply come by for an afternoon visit of love, attention, and playtime.

Q. Do you take my pets to your home?

I make it a policy to come to your home exclusively. This way your pets are able to stay where they are comfortable; in their usual surroundings. I have two Miniature Aussie Shepherds at home who 'may' or 'may not' care to share my company with another animal. Pet care in your own home is the safest, most ideal environment.

Q. How long will you visit with my pets?

20 minutes to an hour seems to be standard for most pet sitters. However, I will recommend at least two hour visits per day. For indoor dogs, three times a day would be best. For healthy cats, two hour visits per day is usually sufficient.

Q. What if my pet becomes ill?

You will be required to provide information in advance on how to handle such an emergency. You'll need to complete a form detailing the name of your vet, how much money you authorize to be spent on your pet's behalf, and contact names of people who may help with decision making should you not be reachable. Most veterinarian office's have these consent forms on hand.

El CatoQ. What if you have an emergency?

I always have two backup plans in case an emergency arises.

Q. How are my keys handled?

In order to make it easier for you I will offer to keep your key, in a secure place, for future pet-sitting engagements. If you are uncomfortable with that process, I will collect the key during the house walk-through and deliver upon your return for a small fee of $10 to cover gas expenses.

Q. When should I expect to pay you?

We'll discuss and agree upon my rate after my walk through. I will then send you a detailed invoice via e-mail and ask that you please leave payment at your home before you leave for your vacation.

Q. What if I have to cancel?

Of course I understand situations come up where you may need to cancel my services. If possible, please allow 48 hour notice for cancellations. 25% of estimated fee will be charged if cancelled with less than 48 hours notice.

Q. What about references?

I have excellent references upon request.
